The 'Bains Douches' (Baths and Showers ) are so called as they became a Public Wash House in 1935. They began life as barracks built into the ancient fortifications of Antibes in 1774: garrison troups were posted here until the space was handed over to the town in 1925. Fishermen, and various trades took over for a while, then the Baths occupied 5 units, and social and administrative services the rest, including a rations office during WW2. The space was turned into a suite of municipal Art Galleries in 1996.
